Pleasantly located at the fjord, right between the Trolls' Path and Geiranger, Ytterdal Camping is close to The Golden Route, at the very heart of Sunnmøre.


The campground is to be found in Eidsdal, which is an exellent starting point for mountains hikes, fishing trips and visits to other parts og Sunnmøre. An ideal area for hollidaying! It takes one and a half hour to drive to Ålesund, and less than 30 minutes to Geiranger. From Geiranger you can drive to Stryn or Gudbrandsdalen. The season starts on April 1st and ends on October 1st. We recommend all seasons, but springtime is particularly beautiful with blossoming orchards and fishing in the fjord. The autumn is lovely too - the splendour of the mountains and delicious berries.... Eidsdal has a good salmon river, which has given a real challenge and a great treat to many anglers.

Run by a family, Ytterdal Camping was founded by the grandparents of the current owners back in 1955. Many of our guests from the 1950s have been visiting us every year since then!

On the shore of the fjord, Ytterdal Camping is situated in an orchard where Vikings used to live more than one thousand years ago. The Museum of Bergen exhibits Viking artefacts found here. Today there are toilets, showers, a kitchen and a laundry with washing machines and other facilities in a building in the middle of the campground. There are also facilities for emptying the toilets og caravans.

We hire out boats to our guests. There are many who take advantage of this to get fresh fish from the fjord for dinner. There are always to freezers available for our guests, just in case you'd like to freeze your fish! Ytterdal Camping has no shop or kiosk within its area - the needs are met right outside our property: Only one hundred meters to the nearest shops, café, pub, post office, bank, telephone booth, and public means of transportation.
