How to find us
Ytterdal Camping is located at the centre of the valley of Eidsdal, on the south side of the Norddal Fjord in the District of Norddal - one hundred meters from the ferry.
Eidsdal is one of the most spectacular valleys of Sunnmøre: the scenery surrounding Lake Eidsvatn is particlarly breathtaking.
The West Norwegian Fjords; entailing Geirangerfjord, the mountains around Eidsdal and Norddal and Nærøyfjord was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2005. The West Norwegian Fjords is the first natural World Heritage site in Norway, and the third natural site in the Nordic - Baltic region. This area are characterised as the best geologically developed and preserved example of classic fjord landscape.
The famous Golden Route runs through the entire valley of Eidsdal, connecting Geiranger and Eidsdal to Romsdal and the Trolls' Path, going by ferry across The Norddal Fjord to Linge - a ten minute ferry trip with a fine view towards many of the nice villages in our district.
The scenery of Eidsdal is overwhelming: Mountains that even here in the Fjords are unique in their majesty and splendour, farms situated higher above the sea level than summer farms, and valleys that are broken up not only in terraces but also in branch valleys longitudinally.
From Eidsdal it is nice to drive to Norddal, a lovely village where the parish church is situated. From Norddal you can take off to Herdal Summer Farm with hundreds og goats and very attractive scenery. Linge, the village to the north, has the northernmost fruit farms in Norway (and Europe). Wonderfully beautiful in springtime when thousands of fruit trees are blooming!
From Linge the road lingers on to Valldal, Tafjord, or northwards to the Trolls' Path. Driving southwards from Eidsdal, you arrive the internationally famous tourist centre of Geiranger, the village with the precipitous mountains and stunning fjord.
